3rd International Conference on Bowen Family Systems Theory in Swedish Lapland 13-15 June 2022
Finally the go-ahead for the 3rd International Conference on Bowen Family Systems Theory in Swedish Lapland 13-15 June 2022.
From the end of September, the restrictions will ease for Covid, this means that Sweden can return to a more open society.
The Government's decision means that we are now resuming work on organizing and conducting the conference. Despite the unpredictability of the pandemic's development, we now assume that we can meet for a few days under the midnight sun to share experiences and deepen our knowledge of Bowen's systems theory.
Now when we have received the go-ahead, we will focus on updating information on our website. From the end of October, it will be possible to book your participation again. Then the program will also be updated.
For those who have already registered and paid the participation fee, places are reserved.
Kerstin Sofia Andersson, Coordinator
About the restrictions
The Swedish government has decided that restrictions on participation ceilings for public gatherings and public events are planned to be abolished as of 29 September 2021. A high level of vaccination coverage has formed the basis for the assessment.
The government has also decided that foreign citizens traveling into Sweden from countries outside the Nordic region must have tested negative for covid-19, be vaccinated against or have recovered from covid-19.

The Bowen Theory is developed by Dr. Murray Bowen, an American psychiatrist and a professor in psychiatry at Georgetown University. The Systems Theory is developed through practical work with clients during several decades. Dr. Bowen analyzed families, congregations, organizations and societies as emotional units. Instead of the individual perspective, focus was set on how relations are built and changed depending on context and various levels of anxiety. Dr. Bowen begun his research during the 1940’s at the Menninger Clinic, Later he continued at the Georgetown University, Washington DC, USA, where he also founded the Bowen Center for the Study of the Family.
